A quick review of M&P’s six cavity 45-270 mould. First off, I ordered the mould on Wednesday before Thanksgiving. It arrived at my house, directly for Slovenia on Friday, two days later with appropriate top punch. Ordered handles from Amazon on the same Wednesday, received those yesterday. In the meantime, I cleaned the moulds with my sonic cleaner and a dab of Dawn.
Today, I fired up my pot with 1:20 alloy and started casting. After getting everything up to temperature, the mould dropped bullets like pouring water from a glass. They just dropped without coaxing!
The weight was right at 292 grains without lube and 292 grains lubed with Gato Feo #1.
As a comparison with the RCBS 45-270, the M&P has a more generous lube groove. The RCBS bullet drops at 0.722” long and the M&P at 0.763”.
Shooting performance comes another day.
