I have a Browning Traditional Hunter in .45/70 and because of lightness I did not like recoil. I have always wanted a .38/55 and am wondering about how much a new barrel installed would cost. Any opinions ?.

Sell 45-70 and buy a 38-55. Rebarrel would cost nearly as much as a new rifle.
the cost will be determined by#1 quality of barrel used, labor to machine, cost of refinishing new barrel. But you will enjoy the finished rifle. great caliber choice.
