I use the "Skeeter" load of 7.5grs of Unique...it works mighty well behind a 429421... chrono'd average of 950fps. I haven't shot a deer with it yet, that it didn't kill quickly.

I have 6,44special handguns, and this is the only load that I use for all of them.

You think that load would also work in hogs ?

Ought to work fine on hogs.
Only left handed guns are interesting!

    A well proven load.
I duplicate it with 8.1 grains of Unique in 44 magnum cases and the RCBS 250 SWC which is a near clone (not an exact copy but close) of the 429421.
Cast it with 20:1 and look no further.

I've shot a couple deer with Skeeter's load (7.5 gr under the 429421) from a 4" M28 S&W I had converted some years ago. Worked fine and will work fine on hogs. Just don't expect a DRT unless the central nervous system is hit solidly.

I normally put it through the shoulders of deer...they don't go far. However, I have never shot a hog with it.

What kind of firearm are you using? 12-13 grs of 2400 with a 250 gr boolit should get you where you want to be. I can't quote a velocity w/o knowing the barrel length.

13 hrs of 2400 w/ same boolit is my favorite load in 44 Sp.

8.0 of power pistol gets Skeeter load velocity with lower pressures. Shoots good in multiple .44 specials for me.

my skeeter load is a little less unique, .3grs less.
that ruger medallion will still tear the skin off my thumb after a bit if I don't Band-Aid it.
it's a good enough load to kill steers and hogs for butchering without any drama.

13.5 gr of 2400 if that's what you have. My favorite though is 9.5gr of HS6.I have a new Flattop though so wouldn't recommend these in any older/weaker guns or a CA Bulldog.

Mine is 13.2gr of 2400. Using that in a 7.5" Ruger Super Blackhawk and a Smith M69. Going to try the smaller Unique load and the Power Pistol load when I get back from traveling. Thanks for those

Ditto. Shoots better than anything else in both my 6.5 inch and 4 inch .44 Specials. Look no further with a 250-265 grain SWC.

The above loads are for sturdy S&Ws, Rugers, and Colts. You aren't planning on using a Charter Arms Bulldog, are you?

Hey guys, has anyone tried trimming down 44 mag brass to fit in the 44 Special? Just wondering because I have 44 mag brass and nothing chambered for 44 mag. Got an old S&W hand ejector chambered for the special.
Oh great, another thread that makes me spend money.
