If you have account at Midway, you can set up notifications for when .22lr ammo come in , though you have maybe 2-3 minutes after that email before the supply is sold out. Cabelas usually has a couple types of .22lr on their website, but if no store nearby to pick up at, shipping drives up the cost a lot

It's a bolt gun, single shot. I don't think I'm ready to rebarrel it just yet. I'm gonna try shooting groups on a calmer day. That will show us what the clusters and vertical stringing are made of.

Lots of good advice. If it were me, I would check the crown first. Use a magnifying glass. Re-crown if you see something. Clean it again. A new crown is probably a good idea.

I bought a used Ruger #1 in .257 Roberts. It would not shoot. I spent the next three days cleaning the barrel by using long soaks with Butch's Bore Shine followed by brushing and patching. Over and over. The next trip to the range it put seven shots into .432 inches at 100 yards with some Remington Bulk bullets that were loose in a bag.

My point being is that looking clean does not necessarily mean it is clean.

As to the dark spot, no idea.

Let us know how the story ends.
