Can I get help with a Navy arms trapdoor.

I have a Navy Arms trapdoor carbine that the cam is screwed up.When the gun is fired the door flies open because the cam does not close all the way.
I was told to remove the set screw and rotate the lever up. This would do the job but it will not turn, so I tries to tap the lever out and it is stuck. It moved about 3/16 of an inch and will not come out or go back in. What can be done?

Buy a real trapdoor 'breech block'.
Search for Larry Gibson's work on his H&R OM Trapdoor - No stuck lever - but breech block springing open when it should not.
