Thanks for the tip Dougguy. Can I ask from which side of the collet do you remove material to lessen the contact with the driving band? I can't seem to distinguish where you machined material from in...

As I was rummaging through my powder supply, looking to use up some old powder for some reduced power, cast 311041/30-30 loads, I came across this old friend in the back of the cabinet....

Check out Ken's recipe for a super soft recoiling, accurate 45ACP load. It corroborates some above comments, and works GREAT out of my pistols!

WW stands for wheel weights. They are the lead clip on counter weights that they balance your wheels at the tire shop with.

Damn, I've been thinking about building a 6.5 Grendel, and now thinking about casting for it put that urge into high gear. Thanks again to you "Enablers"! Lol

The whole primer thing in semi-autos is exaggerated. Use what you have, and just don't place a loaded cartridge on the chamber and let the bolt slam into battery on it. The magazine's resistance...

Ive shot a lot of 4759 in my Ruger #3 Krag. I have tried the following boolits in it: 311410, 311466, 311041, 311284, 311299, 312299, 311334. All were gas checked except 311410, sized to .310 or...

I agree, 20% Ballistol to 80% water mix (called Moosemilk by some), works well to wash away the salts, and when the water evaporates leaves a protective oil behind. I mix it up in a cheap spray...

I think the cloth type slings make for a better “loop”, grabbing better and preventing slippage.

Are they still making those carbines, and selling them for about $1100?
Forum: Cast Boolits
Honestly, we are all making these decisions right now ourselves, taking into account our own needs concerning SD, competition, informal target, plinking, hunting, etc., and how many components we...

My load for Garands is 36.0 H4895 under a 311299. In your 308, I would start with 34.0 grns, and if it doesnt function your action, keep bumping up.5 or one grain until it functions 100%.
Forum: CB Loads / Military Rifles
36 grains of H4895 under any 180-200gen GC bullet will cycle both my Garand's actions, and will be mild and accurate at 100 yds.

Thank you Ussr, that is very helpful!

I heard that 20:1 would be a good alloy for hollow point expansion. Will I be able to push the 9mms to 1050-1100fps without problems? Maybe the 5% antimony in the 95/5 would help strengthen it? I...

Hello fellas, for anybody that can actually use their alloy calculator, how much 95\5 solder would I use to pure lead, to make 20:1 alloy?
I realize that the Antimony will add a little hardness,...

Which brands of brass should I be pulling aside to ream their crimped pockets? I know WCC is one of them

After shooting cast bullets out of my Garand for some time, I always scrubbed it out with chore boy, and it appeared clean from the muzzle. Recently, I bought a bore cam, and it showed that I was...

Is it possible to skim off the lead from the top of the Mercury to remove it, if I wanted to?
Forum: Cast Boolits
I was told to try this solvent on my Garand, that has lead fouling that Chore boy can't get out. Does anybody have experience with it? If so, please share! Thanks-

Forum: Cast Boolits
So using a flat based boolit in conjunction with a M-style expander sounds like a winning combo!
Forum: Cast Boolits
I agree with Outpost. The amount of hardness is very obvious if you size freshly cast boolits.
Forum: Cast Boolits
I’ve read somewhere that now, because of different formulation of Bullseye, you should use 3.0 grains.

Maybe I am overthinking this too much, but:
For years I have been hearing that HBWC boolits have been used with tremendously accurate results. To me, it is hard to understand how a bullet that...
